Methodist College DAISY Award for Nursing Adjunct Faculty

Celebrating Excellence in Nursing Education: DAISY Award® Winner

The DAISY Foundation™, renowned for its dedication to recognizing exceptional nurses, once again honored outstanding nursing faculty through its prestigious awards. The 2024 DAISY Nursing Faculty Nurse Educators Award for Adjunct Faculty was presented to a remarkable Methodist College educator who has made significant impact on their students and the nursing community.

DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nursing Adjunct Faculty
Presented to: Josh Glore-Twente, clinical instructor, Methodist College

Josh Glore-Twente was recognized for his exceptional teaching skills, leadership and commitment to instilling strong patient care and compassion in his students. His nominators highlighted his profound impact on students and his dedication to their success.

A student shared, "Josh has made a huge impact on me as a stressed-out student. He listened to our concerns and stressors during clinical and helped us navigate a very busy summer semester. He has taught me so much about disease processes and skill techniques. I will carry the wisdom and caring attitude that Josh provided far into my nursing career."

A nursing leader added, "Josh has been an extraordinary instructor for us. He has been teaching the Health Alterations clinical in the second degree for several semesters and it never goes quiet hearing his praises. The students are always telling me how great he is and that challenging them really helps them learn. I was able to observe this when I rounded on the unit. Josh was engaging and questioning the students with good critical thinking questions. He is always willing to teach when we need him. We have encouraged him to join our faculty, but he is also very active with his new position. I think Josh shows great professionalism and shares lots of knowledge with the students."

About the DAISY Award®

The DAISY Award was established by The DAISY Foundation™ to recognize and celebrate the contributions of nursing faculty who inspire their students and shape the future of nursing. The award aims to provide colleges and schools of nursing with a national recognition program to demonstrate appreciation for faculty commitment and inspirational influence on their students.

An acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died from complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). Patrick’s family was so touched by the remarkable compassion and clinical skill demonstrated by his nurses during his illness and created DAISY to recognize nurses’ exceptional contributions to patient care.

Each DAISY Award honoree is recognized at a public ceremony and receives a certificate, a DAISY faculty award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer's Touch.

The college is immensely proud of all the nominees and winners, whose dedication and excellence continue to inspire and shape the next generation of nurses.
